Use Public Land for Free!

by Vanessa Dillon
(Hangtown, CA)

I used to have a 1970 Ford 17' class C Balboa motor home (very rare) and had wonderful luck finding free BLM land to camp on.

I went to a BLM office in the Palm Springs area and got a free map for CA, and was totally surprised to find so many places, unknown to the public, located within a few miles of towns with major shopping!

My then boyfriend and I were even able to nude sunbathe and get at least a couple of network TV stations. We are no longer together but I have happy memories.

I have had several vintage trailers and now reside full time in a 1958 20' Boles Aero Miramar and am thrilled that I found your web site.

***editor note*** This was submitted to the "Destinations" page... but thought it might fit the "Tips" page better... as the same thing could be done... where ever BLM manages lands.

Hmmm... and as for the 'Sun Bathing' in the Buff... uh ... NOT, something you're likely to see this Ol' geezer engagin' in... Uh... It don't do my ego any good to hear all that... chucklin'! :o)
